The Better Care Network was formed in 2003 by UNICEF, the Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF), USAID and Save the Children UK. What was a loose affiliation for information exchange, has now become an established NGO network with a formal secretariat at the UNICEF headquarters in New York.
The main concern for this network is the rising number of children without parental care and it supports information exchange, collaboration and research among those organisations and individuals working on the issue.
SOS Children's Villages is a member of the network and takes part in its advisory board, which advises on strategic priorities, promotes the aims and activities of the network, and contributes to network initiatives.
