When the European Commission launched it's document "Towards an EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child" to promote and protect children's rights, an action group of NGOs was formed, with the commitment to work together on the follow-up and implementation of the EU Strategy as well as to share information.
Though still informal, this NGO Action Group on the EU's Child Rights Strategy is quickly becoming the main partner of the European institutions to further develop and implement the strategy on the rights of the child. SOS Children's Villages was involved in the formation of the action group and is currently holding a position as co-chair until May 2008.
