This worldwide network of 80 NGOs was created to act as a direct link between NGOs and UNICEF, specifically the UNICEF Board. For more than 50 years, the NGO Committee on UNICEF has provided research, analysis, insight, and perspective on the work of UNICEF. The Committee encourages discussion and cooperation among NGOs at all levels, and engages in diverse activities that include advocacy campaigns, publications, and participation in international forums. In all of this time, it remains the only network of NGOs with direct consultative status at UNICEF.
SOS Children's Villages is a long-standing member of the committee and is currently a member of its governing board and as such works with UNICEF on promoting new and strengthening existing partnerships between UNICEF and NGOs. Additionally, SOS Children's Villages is a member of the Working Group on Girls, a sub-group of this committee, which is dedicated to promoting the rights of girls.
