Why is there no advertising on our website?
Because of our status as a non-profit organisation we are not allowed to include third-party advertising on our website. In the eyes of the tax authorities, these would be seen as sales measures and could lead to us losing our status as a charitable organisation. We are also prevented from receiving commission income through offering links or banners on our website.
Is it possible to visit an SOS Children's Village?
Generally, it is possible to pay a short visit to an SOS Children's Village. Please bear in mind; however, that the respective village is not prepared for a high frequency of visits, we therefore kindly ask you to inform the national SOS Children's Village association of your planned visit well in advance.
Can children from an SOS Children's Village be adopted?
SOS children are not up for adoption as in most cases, it is not the SOS Children's Village which is the child's legal guardian, but the parents, other relatives or the youth welfare authorities, so the decision lies with them, not SOS Children's Villages.
What is our organisation's attitude towards adoption?
Adoption constitutes another successful way to find someone to care for a child in a family based environment. It is one of the best alternatives for orphans or abandoned children being cared for on a reliable long-term basis. You have to consider what is actually the best way of caring for a particular child (either admission to an SOS Children's Village or adoption).
