What percentage of the organisation's expenditure goes towards covering administrative costs?
As a charity, SOS Children's Villages values every single donation by our friends, sponsors and other supporters. The organisation is run as efficiently as possible and subject to regular scrutiny from international auditors; any money we save goes towards helping the children in our care.
Please find more information on this topic in our
Annual Report.
Why does SOS Children's Villages International financially support its own facilities and programmes only?
SOS Children's Villages International is a private, non-political and non-denominational social organisation established for the purpose of helping orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children. Our main goal is to help children grow up in a family-based atmosphere, with brothers and sisters, and a parent taking care of them.
The SOS Children's Villages are primarily funded based on private contributions from generous people all over the world. In accordance with the Statutes of SOS Children's Villages International, we are required to use our financial means for the construction and upkeep of our own facilities and to support our community outreach programmes.
What costs are covered by sponsorship contributions?
Sponsorships cover the costs of food, clothing, schooling, the running costs of the village and, if present, its kindergarten, school, medical centre, and social centre, which provide education, medical care, social services encompassing family strengthening efforts, and more.
