The Q4C Standards have been developed by members of SOS Children's Villages, IFCO and FICE from 26 European countries. The Maltese national team actively contributed to the project with 15 stories from children, foster parents and members of the extended family as well as in developing the standards for the care-taking process.
The Maltese document called "Standards for Residential Child Care - Consultation Document" is the product of two processes: Quality4Children and a second process which took place on a local basis, where a working group consisting of current and former service users, as well as parents and persons working in the field was entrusted to adapt the Quality4Children Standards to the local context.
These standards describe what each and every child or young person should expect from service providers, any residential home for children and others. The Ministry launched the standards on February 15 for consultation from stakeholders and people working in the field of out-of-home child care.
