Power4Youth: the virtual youth network of Quality4Children
Exchange experiences, make friends, discuss questions - that's what youth can do on the new website www.power4youth.eu! The network has been set up by youths for youths who have lived or are still living in out-of-home care. The website comprises a chat room, discussion forums as well as country-specific links with useful addresses and a calendar referring to interesting events. More... Life as a child: it's about playing in the sandpit, chasing butterflies, climbing the very highest tree in the whole world… That is one side. And the other? Child labour, child soldiers, juvenile refugees. While SOS Children's Villages strives to make a happy childhood possible for the children cared for as part of its programmes, such happiness remains, for millions of children, just a dream. More...What significance do the major socio-political changes of the last few decades have for the lives of children? How do globalisation, individualization, changes in the idea, image and structure of the family affect children? In light of profoundly changed historical circumstances which also have an impact on the conditions of children, what can be done, in the way of prevention, to contribute to improving their life chances?
