Kuoni is a long-standing member of the SOS family. Four years ago SOS-Kinderdorf International and Kuoni started a successful cooperation under the slogan "Worldwide Partners", which is shown in many different ways on an international and national level.
The aim is for Kuoni to demonstrate their social commitment, notably in its main target countries, and SOS-Kinderdorf International seeks to increase awareness of the SOS Children's Village message in individual countries. Kuoni supports SOS Children's Villages financially via donations and sponsorship schemes. It provides non-monetary support by spreading the SOS Children's Village message.
The fruits of this partnership are manifold. As from 1997, at the international level, the Kuoni Group has pledged a fixed financial contribution to the organisation. To start with, the funds have been used to finance family houses in Los Mina (Dominican Republic), in Gopalpur (India) and Umtata (South Africa) and for the family's keep. The project of the years 2000 and 2001 is the extension of the SOS Vocational Training School and the renovation of the SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya.
In addition to promoting selected SOS Children's Village projects, Kuoni has come up with various ideas to appeal to customers and raise funds, which include foreign coin collection and producing promotional material. Kuoni's employees have also launched initiatives in aid of SOS Children's Villages.
At the national level, Kuoni has appointed an SOS ambassador in each country where it has a subsidiary. The ambassador acts as contact person for SOS Children's Villages and implements good ideas in collaboration with Kuoni employees. Some of the activities staged have included Christmas raffles, auctions, flea markets and all have been met with a very positive response. Kuoni's catalogues also feature a dedicated SOS Children's Village page outlining the partnership.
