The certainty of knowing that your corporate donation is helping to build a children's house, kindergarten, family strengthening programme or entire children's village is something corporate sponsors find very attractive. SOS Children's Villages will track corporate contributions and provide sponsoring companies with updates on the development of the project or programme. A number of companies have contributed to the construction of SOS Children's Villages, schools, medical centres, social centres take pride in seeing concrete results from their donations. Not only knowing – but seeing – that their company has made a real difference in children's lives is also a source of pride for employees, managers and directors.
FIFA and SOS Children's Villages' 6 villages for 2006 campaign
FIFA and SOS Children's Villages has had a relationship for more than a decade. During the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany, SOS Children's Villages and FIFA teamed up to cap the two-year
6 villages for 2006 campaign. The joint fundraising endeavour raised nearly $ 28 million USD in donations for the construction and five-year maintenance of six new children's villages and ancillary social programmes, one each in Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Ukraine and Vietnam.
A total of USD $ 22 million was collected in donations, while a further 3,000 people pledged their support to SOS Children's Villages as sponsors. Many of these new sponsors will make a long-term commitment to SOS Children's Villages and are expected to provide an additional $ 1.3 million per year in donations over the next five years. As such, the overall income generated by 6 villages for 2006 is expected to surpass $28 million.
FIFA lent its name and logo for such events as the FIFA World Cup Ticket Show, which raised more than $ 815,000. An autograph book including the original signatures of all 736 footballers and coaches was also donated by FIFA and the Local Organizing Committee, was auctioned for $ 82,500.
