International SOS Children's Village Day, the birthday of the SOS Children's Village founder Hermann Gmeiner, has been celebrated by the SOS Children's Villages and their friends on 23 June for the past fifteen years.
It is a celebration for children - exuberant, colourful, intense, with plenty of goodies! A celebration with dance, sports contests, poetry recitals, concerts. A celebration for young and old alike in almost every SOS Children's Village on every continent. And a celebration to honour humanity, a celebration of respect for every individual, a celebration to encourage and lift spirits and to celebrate the joy of life.
