It is 57 years since Hermann Gmeiner set up the first SOS Children's Village in Imst. Until his death in 1986, Hermann Gmeiner was president of SOS Children's Villages, which is now active across the world. The 20th anniversary of the death of this great visionary is the focus of the "Hermann Gmeiner Days." From 20 April, SOS Children's Villages and the town of Imst will begin to look for the nature of this great humanist's motivation and tokens of his work under the slogan:
get up, stand up
for children's rights

"Hermann Gmeiner spent his life fighting for children's rights to a happy childhood. The events we are organising are intended to remind people of this and to remember Hermann Gmeiner," said the artist and the man behind the "Hermann Gmeiner Days," Mr Gebhard Schatz. Archbishop Alois Kothgasser and many other guests will take part in a commemorative service at Hermann Gmeiner's grave on 26 April.
