On 21 August 2008 the opening of the eighth SOS Children's Village in Indonesia will be celebrated in Banda Aceh, a region heavily affected by the 2004 Tsunami. Helmut Kutin, President of SOS Children's Villages, will be present at the inauguration. A year ago the village became the new home for 53 children who are living together with their families in 13 family houses. Up to 150 children can be taken in and cared for. Since 2007 there is also a family strengthening programme in Banda Aceh. In the programme families get support in health counselling, community support, counselling and psychological support.
