The pertinent literature accords play an important place in the development of man. In "adult life" play is often shut out by "more important" activities or by "serious" work.
From the adult point of view, play is restricted to the child's world or to leisure time. But our world would be so much richer if we were able to integrate the aspects of play: communication and expression, happiness and joy in learning - in other words "joie de vivre".
Pablo Neruda, Chilean poet and Nobel Prize laureate, wrote: "A child who does not play is not a child, but the man who doesn't play has lost forever the child who lived in him and who he will miss terribly." Thus, this issue of FORUM is a plea for play: to look into our soul, to learn with joy, to communicate, to express ourselves, to experiment, to recharge our energy, to feel good. The articles in this edition deal with these and other aspects of play.
