Researching Children

Researching Children brings together people who share the view that children, young people and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities should have all possible opportunities to be active and even take a leading role in research that has consequences for them.

The title "Researching Children" is deliberately ambiguous. There is a lot of research about, on and even for children. However, there is very little research in which children play an active and contributing part.

Active participation of children in research

"Researching Children" stands for research in which children actively participate with adults in ways that ensure that their view of the world is fully expressed and presented seriously.

SOS Children's Villages took part in organising the conference "Researching Children" twice (in Norwich/UK in 2006 and in Innsbruck/Austria in 2007). The goal of the conference was to set up a permanent team on the topic of research for and with children.
