Tracking Footprints

In 2001 the international long-term project Tracking Footprints was launched. It was designed to investigate into the experiences of people who lived in an SOS family and/or an SOS Youth Facility (SOS adults). Its major goal is to learn from the recommendations and views of the SOS adults in order to develop our pedagogical work further.

In 2005 Tracking Footprints, as a supporting part of SOS Children’s Villages’ programme for international executive development, was granted a special award of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour.

Study seeks to obtain information from former SOS children

By conducting interviews with a standardised questionnaire the study seeks to obtain information from former SOS children: on their current living situation (e.g. marital status; educational and professional development, health) and satisfaction with it, their experiences during their participation in our programmes, and their recommendations as experts on how to improve the work of SOS Children’s Villages.

Over 2,400 former programme participants took part

Starting with 1100 SOS adults from twenty countries in 2002/2003, over 2,400 former programme participants from more than 40 national associations took part in the study between 2008 and 2009. The results were analysed and used both on national and on global level within our organisation.
