Research
Staying in touch and fostering scientific exchange with the expert community is a major task of the research branch of SOS Children's Villages, especially in the fields of child and youth care research and social development.
Furthermore, we contribute to the quality of our services and the development of new programmes by initiating, co-ordinating and conducting studies such as the following:
Approaching Capabilities with Children in Care
With our programmes and services we strive to enable children, youths and their families to live a life according to their own culture, as active and successful members of their community. Using the terminology of the Capability Approach (CA) one could say, we work to enable people to "live a flourishing life they have reason to choose and value".

Tracking Footprints
The international long-term project Tracking Footprints, launched in 2001, was designed to investigate into the experiences of people who lived in an SOS family and/or an SOS Youth Facility (SOS adults). Its major goal is to learn from the recommendations and views of the SOS adults in order to develop our pedagogical work further.

Researching Children
Researching Children brings together people who share the view that children, young people and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities should have all possible opportunities to be active and even take a leading role in research that has consequences for them.
