During the last couple of years quality standards have been developed and implemented in various areas: in terms of the structural quality of our facilities, the way we deal with our financial-technical issues, human resources development and not last in terms of concrete work in the different programmes.
The SOS Children's Village Manual, for instance, provides a general framework for SOS work within which the work of the village director and his team is to be of high quality. This framework is also to leave scope for regional solutions adapted to the local culture involved. In addition to that, the various types of positioning expressed in this manual provide the co-workers with guidance and help for the focus of their work.
Standards such as "the SOS mother leads the SOS family" or "the development of the child is actively supported" are listed, while guidelines explain how the individual standards can be implemented and the responsibilities of those involved are defined. In addition to that the manual contains the so-called "How to” explanations, which are to support the implementation of the standards in the form of recommendations, advices and best-possible procedures.
