Quality education and vocational training are keys to a successful future. To ensure that every child can enjoy their basic right to quality education, SOS Children's Villages runs kindergartens, day care centres, schools and vocational training centres in places where they are needed. Children and young people from SOS families attend local public schools and make use of the existing education systems in areas where public education is available and adequate. However, in many places where SOS Children's Villages helps, the public education system is inadequate due to a lack of state assistance or funds. If quality private schools are available, SOS Children's Villages assists with school fees, uniforms and school supplies for the children in our programmes. In places entirely lacking schools, SOS Children's Villages runs kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and vocational centres, to offer educational access for the whole community. All of our schools are state recognised and teach according to the local national curricula. Often, our schools are regarded as top schools in the country.
