Project Assistant (f/m)

20-25h/week; Location: Vienna/Austria

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

Mission

As part of the Child Care & Safeguarding team, the Project Assistant supports the successful implementation of the EU co-funded project “Safe Places, Thriving Children - Embedding Trauma-Informed Practices into Alternative Care Settings (TIP)” by providing administrative, coordination and communication support to the project manager, the member associations and external partners forming the project team.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Administrate the project including accurate, effective and efficient project document control and reporting to the European Commission
  • Coordinate the logistic and content organization of a series of project meetings, trainings and events
  • Provide logistic support as well as facilitation support during the meetings and be in charge of documentation and dissemination of meeting results
  • Develop and implement the communication strategy for the project together with the project partners and the communication department of the International Office
  • Provide advisory support to project partners, including a group of young adults with alternative care experience, organize regular bilateral meetings and take minutes
  • Identify opportunities for project representation at international events, prepare workshop applications and represent the project when appropriate
Requirements
  • A University degree or executive training in secretarial, business administration, project management or education in the area of social work or psychology
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in administrative and operational (project) support; relevant experience within non-profit sector and/or additional knowledge of child protection issues would be an asset
  • Previous experience with event organization and communication
  • Exceptional organisational skills and structured way of working
  • Good writing skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and to handle stress in a positive manner
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Excellent command of English; German, French and/or Spanish language skills would be an advantage
  • A valid Austrian working permit or eligibility to work within the EU
