SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. Youth Intern (f/m) - Project Assistant for a Youth Project
38,5 hours/week – limited contract for 6 months (with an option to extend to 9 months)

Location: International Office Innsbruck/Austria

Tasks and Responsibilities

SOS Children’s Villages want to ensure that all youth who leave our care are self-reliant and capable of securing decent work. This means working with corporate partners and other stakeholders to ensure that youth have access to the training, mentoring and experience necessary to enter the world of work. Working in 41 countries, YouthCan! helps to bridge the gap between leaving school and securing decent employment for children without adequate parental care. As part of the YouthCan! Team, you will contribute significantly to knowledge dissemination and content creation within the global team and will be an integral team member in supporting and managing the organisation of the YouthCan! Global Conference of over 120 stakeholders from different organisations and countries across the world. Also, as part of the follow up from the Youth Boot Camp, you will also be involved in managing an online community of Young People, ensuring that they continue to communicate with each other, creating digital content and managing an online community.

As an intern, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with the YouthCan! Project Manager, providing logistical and administrative support for the Conference
  • Providing programmatic and content assistance for conference knowledge sharing sessions
  • Supporting conference participants with preparation and travel + visa arrangements
  • Working with the project coordinator in updating and creating content to improve programme knowledge globally
  • Supporting Institutional Funding Proposals for the project over the course of the year
  • Tracking and driving team progress, and supporting with administrative tasks
  • Working with the Youth Participation Advisor to manage an online community of young change-makers across the world
Requirements
  • Finished BA studies in non-profit management, business/event management, education or related areas
  • Good communication skills in English; Spanish or French an asset
  • Good writing abilities
  • Experience in online community management
  • Good with visual design and content creation
  • Organisational and administrative experience an advantage
  • Excellent command of MS Office
  • Pro-active and independent style of working
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
