Multimedia Producer/Video Editor (f/m)

Location: International Office, Vienna/Austria

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility we are now looking for the International Office, Newsroom, in Vienna a committed Multimedia Producer/Video Editor (f/m).


The newsroom plays a central role in the creation and distribution of multimedia content throughout the federation. The newsroom team manages the website of SOS Children’s Villages International and the social media channels of the International Office, including Facebook and YouTube.

Since the global demand for communications and public information content is moving increasingly towards video, the newsroom needs to expand its video output. For this purpose, a multimedia producer with filming and editing skills will be hired to focus primarily on the production of videos that are suitable for web and social media audiences. 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Produce videos and photo slide shows for the website, social media channels, the global network of national and supporting associations and international news media

  • Source appropriate cuts for footage provided by global correspondents and produce videos using this material

  • Film SOS Children’s Villages field projects and produce multimedia products resulting from filming missions

  • Keep informed of current trends in the use of video for websites and social media channels

  • Provide the Management Team with filming/editing support if required

  • Keep track of the usage of any video products and feed this information into a monthly round up of newsroom statistics


  • A university degree in broadcast journalism, multimedia technology or a related field

  • 5 years of proven, professional filming and video editing experience, primarily for web and social media productions

  • Ability to deliver high-quality finished video products in a dynamic, breaking news environment

  • Knowledge of handling professional video cameras, on-set sound and lighting

  • An in-depth understanding of video production and marketing for websites and social media

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop

  • Excellent knowledge of written and oral English, knowledge of at least one other language (German, French, Spanish, Arabic) an asset

  • Willingness to travel also in cases of emergencies (on call, in case of emergencies)

  • Ability to handle tight deadlines

  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
