Team Leader EU Partnership Development (f/m)

38 hours/week

Location: Institutional Partnership Development (IPD) / Brussels/Belgium


The Team Leader (TL) EU Partnership Development is part of the IPD International Office leadership team. Together with the TL IPD operations the TL EU Partnership Development informs and supports the Head of IPD in leading the department and worldwide IPD Networks. The TL EU Partnership Development leads the EU Partnership Development Team and sets the frame for their operation within the IPD Department, worldwide IPD Networks (Promoting and Supporting Associations Programme and Partnership Network, IPD Leadership Group, regional IPD Networks) and the EU Office.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and lead execution of EU related capacity development result area of the IPD Strategy

  • Strengthen Institutional Fundraising through increased number and size of contracts and diversified income through EU funding Instruments for development cooperation (extra EU), social development (intra EU) and humanitarian aid (extra EU)

  • Contribute to increasing quality of project implementation, grant management, and adherence to donor requirements

  • Promote Partnership Development to enable Member Associations and SOS Children’s Villages International (CVI) to enter into partnership with the EU and their implementing partners, both public and private


  • Academic background in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Science, EU studies, Human Rights etc.)

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in an international context, field experience a strong asset

  • Experience in managing projects and people in multi-disciplinary and multicultural settings including experience to combine technical understanding and cultural sensitivity in managing the challenges of the position as well as to promote knowledge sharing

  • Excellent knowledge of the EU institutions, structures, policies, procedures an funding mechanisms

  • Awareness and interest on promoting and supporting children’s rights and the SOS CV mission

  • Grant management experience and knowledge of EU rules considered a strong asset

  • Strong analytical capacity and project management skills; ability to organize and manage a team

  • Excellent networking and communication skills, both written and oral

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and French; knowledge of another European language (German or Spanish) is a distinct advantage

  • Full computer literacy

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment

  • EU citizenship or labour permit for Belgium required
