The following letter of condolence was sent to Ann Hudock, President and CEO of Counterpart International, and Caroline Kende-Robb, Secretary-General of CARE International:
I am deeply saddened by the news of the deadly terrorist attack on your offices in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 8 May 2019.
Humanitarian work in complex and hostile environments is immensely challenging, and we are grateful to all aid workers who serve in these dangerous circumstances. Their dedication, despite the upsurge of violence, is admirable.
On behalf of SOS Children’s Villages, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the violent act. Equally, our thoughts are with team members who have been wounded in the attack.
Yours sincerely,
Norbert Meder
CEO of SOS Children’s Villages
