SOS Children's Villages prepares refugee aid in Jordan
24/03/2003 - A team of SOS Children's Villages co-workers is preparing emergency measures for Iraqi refugees in Ruwayshid, a town near the Iraqi border. Twenty tents, fitted out with mattresses and covers, could be put into action within a short period of time. At the moment, though, all that the aid organisations on the ground can do is wait .
The UNHCR, UNICEF, the Red Cross and a Japanese aid initiative are preparing themselves for the feared flood of refugees, which has, as yet, failed to materialize. So far, as co-workers of SOS Children's Villages for the organisation of aid in Jordan reported from Amman, no Iraqi refugees have come over Jordanian border.
