On Saturday, 18 September 2021, SOS Children's Villages International learned that it had become a victim of a cyber-security incident.
SOS Children's Villages immediately reacted and put in place all appropriate countermeasures, including informing the necessary authorities.
With the support of external cyber-security experts, SOS Children's Villages was able to secure its servers immediately and have all major systems up and running again by 30 September. Following a thorough investigation, there is no indication that personal data was extracted, leaked or otherwise disclosed to unauthorized parties.
We take the security of the personal data of our beneficiaries, donors, staff and service providers extremely seriously and will continue to make every effort to continue to protect it.
