Allianz

Encouraging future generations

In 2015, SOS Children’s Villages International joined risk expert, insurance and financial services provider Allianz in an international partnership. Focusing on the topics of emergency preparedness & response as well as youth employability, the partnership is currently active in 19 countries across the globe.

The global collaboration is part of Allianz’ "Encouraging Future Generations" programme, designed to promote social inclusion. Together, we work to empower young people to shape a secure future, providing them with better opportunities, skills and networks. The goal is to build a resilient future generation that is able to overcome challenges and grasp opportunities to be fully integrated members of society.

In order to fulfil this vision, the partnership focuses on the following topics:

Emergency preparedness & response:

Together, Allianz and SOS Children’s Villages have been rolling-out the Emergency Preparedness Programme (EPREP) to twelve countries since 2017, including Syria, Ukraine, South Sudan, Mozambique, and Ecuador. Introducing a new holistic approach to disaster management, EPREP aims to strengthen the resilience of SOS families, staff and local communities. The programme accelerates the reaction time spans of local staff in case of disasters, providing them with essential material, first aid and evacuation trainings, access to early-warning tools, and contingency plans.

Allianz has also been supporting SOS emergency response programmes in situations of war and disaster, where children need specific protection and care. These include Sierra Leone, Nepal, Serbia, Chad, and many more.

Youth employability:

To strengthen holistic youth development with the view of building an innovative, inclusive society, SOS Children’s Villages and Allianz collaborate on a diverse range of activities to promote youth employability. These include YouthCan!, a global multi-stakeholder initiative that supports disadvantaged young people in successfully managing the transition to independent adulthood. Through the program, Allianz employees around the globe offer a range of activities for young people, including financial literacy trainings and online mentoring programmes, providing young people with the necessary tools to pursue a secure and independent future.
