When everything is connected, anything is possible. BT is in a unique position to leverage its global assets, people and technology to connect communities. BT takes great pride in its relationship with SOS Children’s Villages.
BT launched its Connecting Africa Programme in 2013. Since then, it has connected 30 SOS Children's Villages programmes as well as health centres and communities in 13 African countries via its global satellite network. Additionally, BT engineers are training local SOS Children’s Villages technical support teams to operate and maintain the network. This project demonstrates the reach of BT’s commitment to creating a connected society and improving lives around the globe.
BT is also supporting the SOS Villages Open Space Literacy (OSL) initiative to help combat low levels of literacy – initially in Kenya. The initiative introduces computers and connectivity into the learning environment to help boost reading, writing and comprehension among pupils.
Besides this, BT also supported SOS Children’s Villages in establishing ICT Corners in Serbia allowing refugees to connect with their families and plan their journey”.
