Selam fights against FGM for herself and other girls in her community

October 31 2023 - Selam*, 11, arrived at home from school one day and found her mother with an older woman waiting for her. Her mother said they wanted “a tiny part” of her body cut off. Selam knew what the two women meant.

Protecting children in the occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel

October 23 2023 - This war on children must stop. Anything less will forever be a stain on our collective conscience. 20 organisations are urging the EU to call for the respect of international humanitarian law and an immediate ceasefire by all parties as the number of children being killed continues to rise. Children are always the first to suffer in any conflict – the stories coming out of Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory are truly harrowing. Children are paying the highest price for a conflict they have no part in.

SOS Children's Villages strongly condemns airstrike on its facilities in Gaza

October 23 2023 - Two apartments where SOS Children's Villages in Gaza provided housing for families living in the community were completely destroyed in an airstrike. The people living in the apartments had already been relocated to another location further south. No programme participants or staff were killed or injured by this strike.
