Wayne Rooney becomes a "FIFA for SOS Children's Villages" ambassador

October 7 2005 - (7 October 2005) - Wayne Rooney, PFA Young Player of the Year 2005 and top England/Manchester United striker, became a "FIFA for SOS Children's Villages" ambassador in October 2005. Rooney also underlined his support for the official charity campaign of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, "6 villages for 2006".

Hurricane "Stan": SOS Children's Village facilities remained intact

October 6 2005 - 07/10/2005 - Hurricane "Stan", which has raged over Mexico and Central America for several days, has left a trail of destruction and claimed several lives. SOS Children's Villages was fortunate: All children, mothers and staff remained unharmed and the SOS Children's Village facilities in the affected region are mostly intact.

Anne-Sophie Mutter concert for SOS Children's Villages

October 5 2005 - 05/10/2005 - On 30 September, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde a.s.b.l. Luxembourg, organized an exceptional top-class tribute concert: the world-famous violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter together with Lambert Orkis (piano) performed in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The revenues of the concert will be donated to an emergency relief project in South-East Asia.
