Aid efforts in tsunami-hit regions must now help families rebuild their lives

January 11 2005 - 10 January 2005 - As survivors of the tsunami disaster in India and Sri Lanka are leaving emergency relief shelters and returning to the ruins of their villages, international aid efforts must refocus on helping families rebuild their lives. In response, SOS Children's Villages is moving its relief centres for children and vulnerable families to new locations.

Two weeks on and still more assistance is required

January 8 2005 - 09/01/2005 - In India and Sri Lanka emergency relief efforts are continuing around the clock to assist children and families who lost everything as a result of the tsunami. SOS Children's Villages' long-term assistance to rebuild communities and livelihoods is well underway and ever more communities that have been cut off are being reached with aid.

Extension of Emergency Aid for Tsunami Victims in South Asia

January 7 2005 - 07/01/2005 - SOS Children's Villages' work with traumatised children and attending to unaccompanied children is being further intensified. In Sri Lanka emergency efforts to assist affected families are continuing and the first steps towards rebuilding villages are underway. Despite difficult conditions, a support team from SOS Children's Villages Indonesia have been able to reach Aceh with emergency supplies.
