SOS Children's Villages in joint effort to launch Kenya's first child hotline

January 30 2004 - 30/01/2004 - SOS Children's Villages and other welfare organizations hope to launch Kenya's first childline - a free and confidential 24-hours telephone helpline for children in need. Among the many problems faced by children in the East African country, violence is particularly becoming a growing concern.

Further aid initiatives for earthquake victims in Algeria

January 28 2004 - 28/01/2004 - Eight months after the serious earthquake in north Algeria, thousands of affected families are still waiting for aid. SOS Children's Villages, with financial support from ECHO, is to continue the emergency relief programme that was started immediately after the catastrophe.
