The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of SOS Children’s Villages International steers the finance, budgeting and financial risk management processes of the organisation. The CFO is a member of the Management Team, which is responsible for the operational leadership of the global federation.
Steffen Braasch joined SOS Children’s Villages International as CFO in January 2018. He came to the organisation after 18 years in the automotive industry, working in a number of roles for the BOSCH Group, the world’s leader in automotive parts. At Bosch, Mr Braasch worked in controlling, marketing, and organisational development, before spending the last 12 years in controlling and finance. For most of his career at Bosch, Mr Braasch worked internationally. In his last two assignments, he served as vice president of finance and administration in Taiwan and finance director at Bosch in Brazil.
Mr Braasch was initially drawn to SOS Children’s Villages because of the organisation’s mission and values, as well as his desire to contribute his skills for greater social impact. “For many years, I had a vision of doing something meaningful for society, specifically something related to children,” Mr Braasch said. “I am extremely happy to be part of a global organisation which is doing exactly what I have envisioned, and which has a proven concept that improves the lives of so many children and that is tremendously successful.”
Originally from Unna, Germany, Mr Braasch spent time in Russia, India, and Australia as part of his studies in Economics and Business Administration, which he concluded at the University of St. Gallen with a PhD focused on inter-cultural leadership styles.
