Young people in Liberia gain digital skills for learning and employment

July 14 2026 - On World Youth Skills Day, the global focus is on equipping young people with the skills they need for self-development, decent work and entrepreneurship. In Liberia, where 60% of the population is under the age of 25, access to digital skills has not kept pace with young people's needs.​ SOS Children's Villages partnered with the Orange Foundation to help bridge that gap.

Many girls, especially those growing up in poverty or without consistent care and support, never get the chance to build skills to pursue science or take part in the digital economy. Hasina Ramisedra, a computer science student and YouthCan! participant, explains the barriers to digital inclusion and why the realities of all girls and women must be reflected in AI systems.

Nairobi’s iHub shapes girls' futures in tech

April 24 2025 - The Nairobi Community iHub is a youth-driven space where young people learn essential digital and soft skills, access resources, and connect with mentors, ICT coaches, and like-minded peers. Since its opening in May 2023, hundreds of young people have been coming to iHub each month.
