Strong partnerships for children and young people

Our partners improve the lives and create opportunities of children and young people all over the world. You can support our work and improve children’s and families’ lives in many different ways. Through tailor-made partnership plans we create successful synergies that allow us to achieve our shared goals.

Through partnerships focusing on customer and brand engagement, support and awareness of SOS Children’s Villages is increased, furthering our reach and amplifying our message of a loving home for every child.

The below examples show how customer and brand engagement can impact the lives of children and families.

IKEA supports SOS Children’s Villages Russia to empower families

Family strengthening is an important part of SOS Children’s Villages’ work in Russia. Since 2015, IKEA has supported SOS Children’s Villages Russia to help empower even more families so that they can give their children the care they need.

Whenever an IKEA FAMILY club member swipes their membership card at an IKEA store, IKEA makes a donation to SOS Children’s Villages. In addition, IKEA FAMILY club members have been invited to make individual donations to SOS Children’s Villages.

Marriott International “You Eat, We Give” campaign

Each year, Marriott International organises the “You Eat We Give” promotion, which aims to tackle youth unemployment by donating to SOS Children’s Villages’ youth programmes providing life-skills and vocational training. In this campaign, part of Marriott’s Europe-wide “World of Opportunity” initiative, Marriott-branded hotels in Europe donate €1 (or local equivalent) for every dish served at participating restaurants during the campaign.

Wrigley “Chew for change” / “Smile back” campaigns

With the “Chew for change” / “Smile back” campaigns in various European countries, Wrigley supports dental hygiene and health of children.

Throughout a defined period of time during the year, for every product sold, Wrigley would donate a certain amount to SOS Children’s Villages. This donation supports different programmes tackling dental hygiene, including trainings on how to brush your teeth correctly or oral health reviews (dental examinations) for children.

SOS Children’s Villages recognises that great things can happen when engaged volunteers take action. We are grateful to the many dedicated employees with our corporate partners who have volunteered their time and skills in an initiative to support our work.

Allianz World Run

In times of humanitarian emergency, children are particularly vulnerable, and children who have lost the care of their parents are even more so. The Allianz World Run in 2017 was a global activity which raised funds for the launch a new joint emergency preparedness programme, which helps SOS Children’s Villages prepare for and better respond to humanitarian emergencies.

More than 10,000 Allianz employees from 55 countries joined the Allianz World Run in 2017. Together, the committed employees covered a cumulated distance of nearly 1.37 million kilometres to raise funds for SOS Children’s Villages.

Chevrolet Europe “Wheels for Kids” programme

Chevrolet Europe and SOS Children’s Villages have collaborated with the goal of empowering families and children in need. Through its “Wheels for Kids” programme, the company donated over 100 Chevrolet cars to support the mobility of SOS families and staff working in SOS programmes.

think-cell in-kind donation of software

The Berlin-based software company think-cell provided SOS Children’s Villages co-workers with free use of their software to facilitate quick creation of complex data charts.

At SOS Children’s Villages, the software is used to analyse financial and programme data related to our work in child development, family strengthening and community capacity building, and to make the data more transparent and understandable for internal and external stakeholders.

Skills-based volunteering gives the opportunity to leverage the specialised skills and talents of corporate employees in order to strengthen and support SOS Children’s Villages, helping us to successfully achieve our mission.
