International Senate

The International Senate is comprised of 20 representative members from the General Assembly, plus the President and the Vice-President. Four continents are represented, as are the eight member associations that make the largest financial contributions to the international activities of the federation.

Meeting annually, the Senate has several functions. These include formulating policy changes and drawing up of procedural guidelines. The current Senate was elected at the SOS Children’s Villages International General Assembly in June 2021.

Three Senate Committees have specific tasks in terms of programme and financial auditing, as well as leadership selection.
