Ensuring that children do not grow up alone – that they have a strong relationship with a caregiver who supports them from birth to independence – can help break the cycle of intergenerational disadvantage, ultimately helping us as a global community to meet the Sustainable Development Goals.

We all intuitively know that no child should grow up alone. But why exactly? This report delves into the importance of children developing a bond with their caregiver and receiving the parental support which enables access to education, healthcare, and other services they need to become their strongest selves. Ultimately, “The Care Effect” is how all of society benefits – in this generation and in future ones – from quality care for children and young people.
